We are pleased to support Mossy Earth and really like what they do.

Their simple aim is to help towards the preservation of the natural world. They do this by carrying out projects that help restore wild ecosystems, support wildlife and biodiversity and help fight climate change. The projects and activities they research and undertake are typically involved with re-forestation, re-wilding or Carbon sequestration.

In Scotland, some of their rewilding projects have ranged from building Eagle nest platforms, relocating Mountain Hares and radio tagging Atlantic Salmon and they also carry out projects in other countries such as protecting Turtle nests and eggs and finding solutions to help Iberian Wolf packs co-exist with humans and goat herds.

As well as re-wilding they also have continuous reforestation projects to plant trees to reforest areas and this is typically done in Scotland, Ireland, Solvakia, Portgual and other countries.

Our basic monthly business membership contributes towards their rewilding projects and annually enables the planting of 96 trees.

But we also have worked out an extra amount to contribute with Mossy Earth to offset the mileage from our vehicles per year (from both any business use and socially) so our total number of trees planted per year will be 128.*

There are lots of good articles on the Mossy Earth website about their work and different ways we can reduce our impact as individuals too - we strongly request that you take a good look at their work and consider joining them - an individuals membership is only £10 per month and over time will do some real good!

*This is something we have been aware of and pondered for a while - we moved to Cumbria in 2018 but all of our races are in the south of the country so involve a long journey. We tag as much as we can onto each trip to make the most of it, either with more races taking place soon after each other or by getting in any other organising meetings / bits to minimise our journeys and trips, but wanted to do something to offset this. By enabling the planting of trees we are FUTURE offsetting the carbon emissions - these trees probably won’t be big enough to sequester large amounts of carbon for 8 years or so, but by doing it this way through Mossy Earth there are also other projects and rewilding which is happening now and will affect things now so we are happy to be making these steps in the right direction.
