- Covid & Hygiene - There will be hand sanitiser throughout the event, in the venue and on arrival at checkpoints, please use it.

Support Crews and spectators are allowed to follow you and supply you with food and drink in addition to race checkpoint supplies.  It is best that they do not come to the checkpoint locations but meet you elsewhere. There are lots of  places that support crews could meet runners - use the map link / GPX file to see the route and make a plan with your support crew if you have one.

- Running poles and Headphones are allowed but please be aware and considerate to other participants and members of the public at all times.  Take headphones out when crossing / following any roads during the route AND at checkpoints.

Time Limit for the 5 Trails Ultra is 10 hours, with last cut off for finishing at 8pm.   The 3 Trails Half Marthon has an overall time limit of 5 hours. This event is purposefully accessible to people wishing to try an Ultra distance running race or for those wishing to walk the whole way.

- Cut Offs - There are two cut offs in the Ultra. 3.45pm at Checkpoint 3 which is 18 miles and 5.30pm at Checkpoint 4 which is at 25 miles. Anyone not reaching these checkpoints by this time will be transported back to the race venue. We have to set and adhere to cut offs so our volunteers are out on course for a planned amount of time and not ad infinitum!

- Total ascent is 3816ft for the Ultra and 1236ft for the Half Marathon.

- 4 Checkpoints in the Ultra and 1 in the Half will have water, squash, coke and a mixture of sweet and savoury snacks such as sandwiches, crisps, Tom’s Mum’s flapjack (you’ll know it if you’ve had it before…), chocolate, sweets, bananas, nuts etc.

These are the rough Checkpoint locations to help with your planning for running;

CP 1 - 6.5 miles - Heyshott

CP 2 - 12 miles - East Dean Wood - NO PUBLIC VEHICLE ACCESS

CP 3 - 18 miles - Upwaltham

CP 4 - 25 miles - Bignor Hill car park

Route Maps

For the 5 Trails 50k Ultra is HERE  plus downloadable GPX FILE HERE - This is the correct track for the route and is the exact route that is marked for race day. In case of issues with this file you can also view and download it directly from a Strava activity here.

The 3 Trails Half Marathon route map is HERE and downloadable GPX FILE HERE In case of issues with this file you can also view and download it directly from a Strava activity here. As with most ‘Trail’ runs it is NOT an exact distance, and has not been ratified as being bang-on 13.1 miles. We have run it with different devices/apps recording the run and have got distances from between 12.92 - 13.37 miles!

We recommend having a gps device as backup whilst you are running - many running watches allow you to upload the route onto them, or viewranger is a great free app to enable your smartphone to be used as a gps.

Route Markings are our blue arrow signs with the FR from our logo on them, stapled to posts to guide you.  These will have reflective tape on them so they are visible once it is dark.

As the majority of the race routes are on signed long distance trails there is also permanent Trail signage along the way, which we’ll share in the pre race emails so you know what to look out for!
